HUMOR BLOG: Visiting Kampala filming Stand Up Uganda. Were the malaria pills working?

I just arrived back from shooting the final episode of a reality TV comedy competition, Stand Up Uganda. Kampala, the capital, has sights that make you wonder if the malaria pills are working:

TRAFFIC
The trip from the airport would make Mad Max cry. A local explained that they used to drive on the left of the road, now they drive on what’s left of the road.
Our taxi had one headlight, which only worked intermittently and on hi-beam. The driver compensated by keeping the opposite flicker on permanently, but he still couldn’t see much. So he didn’t look.
He regarded the other traffic, mainly scooters with a minimum of three up, as the opposing scrum.
If that’s how everybody gets around, it’s no wonder there are four dedicated gospel channels on TV.

FOOD
If the breakfast bacon used to be a goat, shouldn’t it be called go-con?

PEOPLE
Warm, friendly, funny… Chess matches in the market and dancing in the street.

I’m really glad I visited and I hope to get to see more of this beautiful place when I return.
